From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Seekers and Schemers tables.
